7-26-2024 Report

Launched at dawn from Solomans Island with several plans in place for a good day.

Plan A Fish the rips for blues and Macks

Plan B Fish behind Bloodsworth Island

Plan C Fish the rip on the Honga

Plan D Fish the rip rap for perch.

Well often enough nature throws you a curve ball. We arrived at the rips and it was blowing 17 out of the north. Washing machine like waves up to 3 foot. We tried a while but you could hardly stand up.

So we made the painful run across the bay. Waves pushing 4 at times. We made it wet and bruised for sure.

Wind shifted a bit east and made the fishing almost impossible. So I ducked behind an island and fishing was doable. Caught a few slot reds and ran into a huge school of rays..no not rays but reds. Maybe an acre of them. Two triples and three doubles and lost count at 12. Some great pullage indeed.

Tide went out and school gone. Boat scraping belly we headed for the channel. On to the next spot. Next spot looked very good but did not produce a hit. Back to the rips on a almost calm bay now. Nothing there so up in the river for some perch. Caught a few and some rat reds. Called it a day.
