60 degrees on Saturday...I got to go fishing. Get to my favorite spot with a bit of chill in the air and I am all alone. Only wildlife around me. Put out one rod for carp and sit back with a cigar. First fishing and cigar this year. Sun is warming me right up and off goes the heavy jacket. Two rods out now and I get a bite. Land it and knock the fish lose with the net. It is hard when you fish by your self. Three rods out now and I land another one and this time it is in the net. Get a monster hit and fight the fish for a long time and then the hook pulls. Bent hook is replaced. Then I get three on at the same time. Line is ripping out of two rods while land number one. Land number two. Third fish has found a sunken tree to hide in. Broke that one off.
Day is done an hour later and I am in a tee shirt. Good cigar and first trip of 2026
